I understand that this is a convolution encoder. What I amconfused about is the 2nd shift registry.

For O2, the input will be XOR’d with the 2nd shift registry

For O1, the input is XOR’d against the first registry, and theresult is then XOR’d against the 2nd shift registry.

What I don’t understand is what values the 2nd shift registrywould take on to provide an output for an input such as 11001,knowing that the bit sequence goes from left to right, and theshift registers are initialized to 0.
